Location
Located just half kilometres away from the world famous tourist destination Sri Jagannath temple, Puri and nearer to Swargadwar and golden beach, the college has the most convenient means of communication, that is only 3 kilometres away from the Puri busstand and railway station. Surrounded by strong boundary wall, the college possess a natural and spiritual environment, spread over an area of about 2 acres of land.
Inception
The age old Sanskrit institution has been catering to the needs of the students and shaping their future for more than about 5 decades. The institution was first established in the year 1904 and upgraded to the status of a college in the year 1973 and in the same year the institution came under direct payment fold. The college has also been recognised by the UGC, New Delhi, 2(f) 12(b) of the UGC Act-1956. The formation of the institution became possible by the painstaking endeavour of certain noble souls and it is named after the presiding deity of Puri, Lord Jagannath.
Facilities and Achievements
The college has been imparting education in +2(Upa-Shastri) level and+3 (Shastri) level in different Sanskrit and Modern subjects like Veda, Karmakanda, Dharmashastra, Vyakarana, Advaita Vedanta, Nyaya, Sahitya, Political Science, English, M.I.L etc. The college provides 4 Honours subjects that is, Advaita Vedanta, Darshan, Dharmashastra and Karmakanda in +3(Shastri) course.
Among the other facilities, the college has a well- furnished library, a cycle stand, a playground, a hundred seated Boys' hostel and teachers' common room etc. A smart classroom, an e-library and common room for Boys and girls are under construction. The campus of the temple has two temples inside it, one of Lord Ganesh and another of Goddess Saraswati in order to create a religious as well as spiritual atmosphere, where the inmates of hostel chant Vedic mantras and recite prayer in the morning and evening time. The SAMS centre is working successfully for the smooth processing of admission. The Red-cross and NSS units are there to ensure the development of a student's personality and future. These units are organising various camps regularly rendering their selfless service to the needy people. Every year in +2 and+3 examinations, conducted by. S.J.S.U, Puri, many students bring credit to the institution by their outstanding performances. A number of meritorious students are also getting scholarship under Govt. of India, Govt. of Odisha and Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi. The college has also been included in “Mo College Aviyan” of Govt. of Odisha from 21/03/2021 and a number of Alumni have registered their names under this scheme.
In addition to this, the college is furnished with excellent faculty members as well as active Non-teaching staff, trying their level best to lead the institution to a height of success. Most of these teachers attend a number of programmes as Guest of Honour and resource persons adding glory to the college.
To conclude, it can be said that, endowed with a natural and religious environment, furnished with excellent faculty members and all other facilities, the institution may be looked upon as an ideal one, for the aspirants to learn and build their future career.
